Saudi telecom regulator Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has not increased the prices of telecom services, CITC spokesman Adel Abu Heemed told MBC television.
“The CITC does not set service prices, but rather monitors the market in terms of monopoly and competitiveness,” Abu Heemed said.
He, however, added that some discounts and promotions offered by telecom operators came to an end, leading to prices returning to earlier levels.
Abu Heemed said prices are usually set by the service provider.
Saudi Arabia has five market players that have the authority to provide services in line with the market supply and demand, and in a way that does not violate CITC regulations, he added.
