Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) will apply the 5 percent value-added tax (VAT) on electricity bills, connection fees and service fees, the utility services provider said on its Twitter account.
The VAT will be transferred to the General Authority for Zakat and Tax (GAZT) as of Jan. 1, 2018, SEC added.
Starting in the New Year, the Kingdom will apply the VAT and new electricity tariffs, Argaam earlier reported.
