Citizen’s Account won’t compensate users with high-energy consumption: report

18/12/2017 Argaam

Saudi Arabia's Citizen's Account program will only provide support for citizens with average energy and power consumption, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported, citing Ali Rajhi, general manager of the program.

The indirect impact of implementing economic reforms, energy and power tariff hikes on the citizen will be reviewed on a quarterly basis to measure the inflation rate.

The direct impact, however, is fully covered by the program through allowances, whose payment method will be announced within a few days, Rajhi added.

The Saudi cabinet approved the policies of the Citizen's Account Program, which aims to compensate the low and middle-income families hurt by austerity measures, Argaam reported.

Eligible beneficiaries include Saudi families, individuals, beneficiaries of social security, Saudi mothers married to foreigners, and holders of transport cards.
