Saudi Arabia’s Haramain high-speed rail project will conduct a trial run without passengers by the end of this month, the Makkah region administration said on its Twitter account.
The trial run will be along the railway’s full 450-km route from Makkah to Madinah at a speed of 300 kilometers per hour (kmph).
The rail’s official launch is scheduled for the first half of 2018, the administration said, adding that ticket prices are under review.
The Makkah-Madinah rail passes through five stations including Jeddah, King Abdulaziz Airport in Jeddah, and King Abdullah Economic City in Rabigh.
