Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) has extended the bidding deadline for work package contracts to develop 12 domestic airports until the end of December, MEED reported on Sunday, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.
The original deadline was set on November 15.
Potential bidders include six local firms, namely Al Kifah Contracting, Al- Fouzan Trading and Contracting Co., Almabani General Contractors, Al-Rashed Contracting Co., Bin Dayel Contracting and Nesma and Partners Contracting Co., the sources added.
The other rivals are Lebanon's Consolidated Contractors Co., France-based Freyssinet, Cypriot Joannou & Paraskevaides, South Korea's Samsung and Chinese Sinohydro, the sources added.
The four package contracts cover greenfield projects, which are aimed to develop a new airport or terminal and related facilities in an existing airport; and brownfield projects that include rehabilitation and upgrade of existing terminals and related facilities.
The packages, to be tendered under the conventional procurement methods, will include Al-Baha, Sharurah, Qunfudhah, Wadi Al-Dawasir, Najran, Al-Jouf, Qurayyat and Turaif.
