Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has completed the first high-speed mobile broadband project for rural areas one month earlier than scheduled, the official Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
The project contract was awarded to Mobile Telecommunications Company Saudi Arabia (Zain Saudi) in March 2017.
The first stage will serve more than 140,000 citizens in 13 provinces.
Under the agreement, Zain Saudi is set to increase high-speed broadband services coverage across the Kingdom’s rural areas to 70 percent by 2020 through boosting infrastructure investments, Argaam earlier reported.
