Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) will be a conservative borrower when it enters international debt markets, Reuters reported, citing the fund's managing director Yasir al-Rumayyan.
According to Rumayyan, the PIF would take a disciplined approach to borrowing, basing it on specific assets that it planned to finance, rather than on the total value of its portfolio, the news agency said.
"We achieve two things with this approach -- we limit our risk, and we increase our returns," Rumayyan said.
The PIF, which assets of $224 billion, is at the center of Saudi policy. It aims to expand to $400 billion by 2020.
