SABIC introduces new resins for automotive lighting

Saudi petrochemical giant SABIC is introducing new materials for customers producing LED automotive lighting parts, according to a statement on the company’s website.

One of the offerings is the LEXA HF4010SR resin, a polycarbonate (PC) material that can help customers develop complex headlight bezels.

The resin can help achieve potential cost savings of up to $2 per vehicle by avoiding the use of complex tools, potentially enabling faster molding, part integration and weight-out.

SABIC has also added new grades to its existing LEXAN XHT resin line, which can offer improved flow at high temperatures compared to other high-heat PC materials available in the market.

The company will be showcasing its new offerings at the International Symposium on Automotive Lighting (ISAL) conference in Darmstadt, Germany, running from Sept. 26-27
