FAST Consortium has selected Otis Elevator Company Saudi Arabia Ltd. to provide heavy-duty escalators and elevators for Riyadh Metro’s lines 4, 5 and 6, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Under the deal, Otis will supply 256 escalators specially designed for public transport, as well as six moving walkways, and 183 machine room-less elevators with travel speeds up to 1.0 meter per second, including fully glazed panoramic elevators.
Otis will provide its products for all stations across Riyadh, two train depots, and three car parking facilities over a total area of 72 kilometers.
Arriyadh development authority (ADA) has awarded the Riyadh Metro project to FAST Consortium of companies, which is led by Spanish construction group FCC and includes partners Samsung C&T, Alstom, Strukton, Freyssinet Saudi Arabia.
Otis Saudi Arabia is part of a joint venture between US-based Otis Elevator Company and Saudi’s E.A. Juffali & Brothers.
Riyadh Metro will run 176 kilometers, across six lines and 85 metro stations.
