Saudi Arabia’s ministry of energy, industry & minerals has granted 123 mining licenses in Aseer region, Saudi Press Agency reported citing Sultan Sharoli, the ministry’s deputy minister for mineral resources.
They include 22 licenses for precious and stone quarrying, eight for gold and limestone and 93 licenses to quarry for building materials.
The ministry has reserved over 35 mineralized areas in Aseer region over a total area of 1,000 square km to encourage mining investment in the region. Minerals in the areas include gold, rare earths, silica and building materials, the report added.
