The total of 86 trains have been manufactured for Riyadh Metro project so far, while 79 trains are under construction, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported citing Arriyadh Development Authority’s (ADA) program manager, Khalid Al-Hazzani.
ADA has received 14 trains so far from manufacturers, Alstom, Siemens and Bombardier, bringing the total number of trains to 179 trains, he said.
According to data compiled by Argaam, the overall works at Riyadh Metro project is 57 percent complete.
In July 2013, the rail system contract was awarded at a total value of SAR 84.4 billion ($22.5 billion) to three international consortiums.
When complete, the metro will span 176 kilometers and include 85 stations. A bus network will complement the project with 24 routes, running 1,083 kilometers and stopping at 776 stations.
