A total of 200,000 female Saudis currently work in the Kingdom’s retail sector, the Financial Times reported, citing Faten Al Sari, director of the women employment policy and program at the labor and social development ministry.
As part of the ministry’s initiatives to resolve transportation challenges for working women in Saudi Arabia, it handed out vouchers they can use on ride-hailing services such as Careem and Uber.
The program started as a pilot project for 400 women last year, aims to expand the services to 150,000 by 2020, Al Sari said.
