Saudi cement, steel prices decline in H1

Cement prices in Saudi Arabia fell 6 percent year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 12.86 per 50-kilogram bag in the first half of 2017, data issued by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics (GAS) showed.

Ready-mix concrete prices in the Kingdom dropped 8 percent YoY in the first six months.

 

Other construction materials also saw price declines in H1: wood fell 4 percent, while prices of cables retreated 3 percent YoY.

Steel prices hit their lowest level in June, declining 14 percent to SAR 2,133 per ton.

 

Cement prices fell 4-6 percent YoY during each of the first six months of 2017.
