Boeing Co. on Tuesday said it has delivered the first 737 MAX 8 to UAE-based flydubai, making the carrier first in the Middle East to operate Boeing's newest single-aisle airplane.
The delivery is the first of the 75 same-model airplanes that flydubai will be adding to its all-Boeing fleet of next-generation 737s, Boeing said in a statement.
The airline had placed the order for the aircraft during the 2013 Dubai Airshow, flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said in the statement.
flydubai currently operates a fleet of 58 next-generation 737-800 aircraft.
Boeing said the 737 MAX is the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history, accumulating more than 3,800 orders to date from 89 customers worldwide.
