King Salman on Thursday ordered the creation of a new cabinet-level security apparatus, independent from the Saudi Interior Ministry, while naming Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Howairini as its head. His decision comes as part of a series of royal decrees. Argaam has compiled a brief list of the most important changes below.
1) Mohammed Abdullah El-Kuwaiz has been named as head of the Saudi Capital Market Authority (CMA).
2) A Royal Commission for Al-Ola province has been established. The prime minister will appoint its governor and members of commission, while the Crown Prince will chair its first board of directors.
3) A commission for the Al-Dareya Gate Renovation has been established, also chaired by the Crown Prince.
4) The King also assigned the Chief of the State Security as member of the Council for Political and Security Affairs.
5) Lt. Gen. Suhail bin Saqr Al-Mutairi has been promoted to general. He has also been appointed as the new Chief of Royal Guard, while Lt. Gen. Hamad bin Mohammed Al-Ohali has been excused from this post.
