Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), one of the world's largest petrochemicals groups, said it has set out sustainability and efficiency targets for 2017.

The company’s priorities for 2017 include:

- Collaborating on advanced catalysis and new process technologies to drive feedstock diversification.

- Investigating circular-economy opportunities within the business, such as developing advanced catalysis to reuse carbon dioxide as a feedstock for chemicals and intermediates.

- Maintaining a strong focus on four core key performance indicators: greenhouse-gas, energy, water, and material loss, assisted by efforts on flaring reduction and the expansion of solutions to utilize carbon dioxide.

- Collaborating with the World Plastics Council on creating global solutions for marine litter.

- Leveraging diverse workforce and provide continuous learning to the company’s human capital to ensure a healthy and robust talent pipeline.

- Capturing all supply-chain-sustainability initiatives across the businesses and establish the sustainability impact of each project using the newly developed Supply Chain Performance Management toolset.

- Expanding a number of national and international social responsibility initiatives.
