Saudi Arabia and Bahrain’s transport ministries have invited banks, investors, experts in public-private partnerships (PPPs), law firms, and major contractors for an industry consultation event next month for the second causeway linking both countries, MEED reported on Wednesday.
The meeting will be held in Bahrain, it was reported.
Earlier this week, the two Kingdoms invited firms to express interest in developing the project.
The new 75-kilometer long rail and road causeway will be built parallel to the existing King Fahd Causeway. It will be procured on a PPP basis.
The project will connect to the GCC Rail network as well as the existing Saudi railway network.
Canada’s SNC Lavalin carried out the technical and financial feasibility study for the causeway project last year.
