Makkah starts award process for bus infrastructure

The Makkah Mass Rail Transit Company (MMRT) has started the process to award contracts for the bus infrastructure component of the Makkah Public Transport Program (MPTP), a MEED report said.

 

The move comes after King Salman last month has issued a decree fast-tracking the implementation of the first phase of Makkah bus network project.

 

The bus package is expected to include the design and construction of bus-related infrastructure and pedestrian bridges as well as the multi-year operation and maintenance of the network, the report said.

 

The package is said to be one of five under the MPTP that were due for award in 2016.

 

The other four packages comprise two civil works packages and two other contracts for the systems and rolling stock for the first phase (Lines B and C) of the Makkah Metro, the news agency said.
