Maaden Phosphate Company (MPC), an affiliate of the Saudi Arabian Mining Co. (Maaden), and one of the largest producers of diammonium phosphate in the world, has been awarded ISO 50001 certification for its ammonia plant, the world’s largest single line ammonia facility.
The certification would help the company’s ammonia plant increase energy efficiency, reduce costs and improve energy performance, the company said in a press release.
MPC was previously recognized by “Certification Europe”, an independent third party certification body, in recognition of compliance with effective quality, health and safety, environmental and management systems in the manufacture of ammonia and diammonium phosphate (DAP).
It also received certification for 4 ISO standards; ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 140001 (Environmental Management), OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management).
Also, Maaden Aluminum, a joint venture of Maaden and Alcoa, announced in mid-2016 that its smelter & cast house were awarded the ISO 9001:2015 which is the latest version of the accredited standard & specifications certificate of quality management published by the ISO.
