US conglomerate General Electric (GE) plans to employ 3,000 women at its all-female business process center in Riyadh over the coming years, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
The New York-listed company currently employs over 100 women in its team in Saudi Arabia, in addition to a 600-strong workforce at the business service center.
The Riyadh-based center was established by GE and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in partnership with Saudi Aramco.
The move to hire more women comes as part of GE’s plan to hit a 50-50 gender ratio in its technical entry-level workforce in the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey (MENAT) region. The firm also plans to have 20,000 women working in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) positions worldwide by 2020.
