King Salman has urged Saudi students currently studying in the United States to join the kingdom’s new "Safeer" program, which aims to cover education expenses for nationals studying abroad.
Students will have to meet a set of criteria in order to qualify for Safeer, which means "Ambassador" in Arabic.
He also said the kingdom would pay for medical expenses of Saudi patients being treated from intractable diseases in the U.S., as reported by the state news agency.
The statement came on the sidelines of King Salman’s first visit to Washington D.C on Friday.
