Southern Province Cement Co. (SPCC), the second-largest Saudi cement producer, said it has delayed the start of commercial production at its Tihama plant to the end of November, as the contractor hasn’t yet handed over the project.
The delay at Tihama’s third production line, which has a capacity of 5,000 ton per day of clinker, will affect the company’s production forecasts, the company said in a statement to Tadawul.
SPCC had signed a SAR 707 million contract for the installation of the third line at Tihama with Chinese contractor, Sinoma International Co.
The trial stage began on March 23, while commercial production was scheduled to start by June-end.
SPCC currently operates factories in Jazan, Bisha, and Tihama.
