The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC), the telecom authority in Saudi Arabia, on Monday invited applications for issuing a new license to a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) on Zain’s mobile cellular network.
The deadline for submission of the application is August 13, according to a statement on the regulator’s website. The statement also lays out the time frame for licensing, guidelines for submission, and the framework of MVNO.
CITC said that the licensing of MVNO will lower costs and improve services.
The regulator has already granted MVNO licenses to Virgin Mobile Saudi Arabia to host on Saudi Telecom Company’s (STC) network, and another to Lebara Group to host on Mobily’s network.
