Clinker inventory for the 15 cement producers in Saudi Arabia dropped by 988,000 tons in May to 19.4 million tons, a new nine-month low, according to research conducted by Argaam.
Compared to the same period in 2014, the decline was attributed to higher usage of clinker in the production of cement, which saw robust demand in the first five months of the year.
Meanwhile, May’s clinker inventory levels increased by 2.9 million tons year-on-year, but at a slower pace.

Clinker stock at Southern Cement and Al-Safwa Cement continued its downtrend to reach 1,114 tons and 42 tons, respectively.
Ten out of 15 plants saw lower clinker inventories in May, compared to the previous month.
Saudi Cement had the highest inventory with 3,314 tons in May, followed by Yamama, and Yanbu Cement with 2,891 tons and 2,723 tons, respectively. Al-Safwa held the lowest inventory.
