Bahri set to buy $1 bln in tankers from South Korea

The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) is expected to place a $1 billion order for 10 South Korean vessels that transport liquid hydrocarbon products, MEED has reported.
 
The move came during a Saudi delegation's visit to the Asian country led by the kingdom's Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi.  Saudi Aramco’s board members were also said to have been visiting the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, which is known as the world’s largest. 
 
South Korea has strong trade ties with both Riyadh and Saudi Aramco and imports 30 percent of its oil from the Gulf country, which is estimated at 780,000 barrels a day.
 
Last month, a trade delegation led by South Korean president Park Geun-hye visited the kingdom in an effort to boost trade between the two countries.
