Saudi Arabia’s National Gas and Industrialization Co. (GASCO) appointed Eyas Bin Samir Al Hajeri as its new chief executive, effective this month.
A mandate appointing GASCO’s board chairman, Salman bin Mohammed Hassan Al-Jeshi
as acting managing director was terminated.
Al Hajeri holds a Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from Syracuse University in the United States. He held several leading positions, and served previously as chief business support officer in Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) and chairman of National Company of Business Support.
Al-Hajeri took over as the new chief executive as the crisis of gas shortage aggravated in Jeddah and prices of butane cylinders hiked. Some news reports said the crisis was ignited by some workers in the company who went on strike. Those workers have been recently axed.
