Credit portfolio of Saudi listed banks in addition to the National Commercial Bank rose 11% to SAR 1,196bn by the end of Q1-2014 compared to the same period last year; data compiled by Argaam indicated.
Non-performing loans in Q1-2014 declined 17% to SAR 15.8bn compared to the same period last year while the coverage ratio improved from 148% to 161%.

Except for Al-Rajhi, Alinma, Saudi Fransi and Saudi Hollandi banks that reported an increase in non-performing loans by 16%, 131%, 20% and 4% respectively, the remaining banks reported declines. Al-Jazira, Al-Bilad and NCB reported the most declines in non-performing loans at 57%, 46% and 37% respectively.
Non-Performing loans ratio to total banks’s credit portfolio declined to 1.3% compared to 1.7% in the same period last year.

Al-Bilad and SAMBA reported the highest non-performing loans ratio at 1.8% each, followed by Al-Rajhi bank at 1.7%.
Saudi Investment, Arab National and Al-Bilad banks rose their non-performing loans coverage ratio above 200% and the remaining Saudi banks increased their coverage ratios above 145%.
