SVCP cancels takeover memo after regulatory rejection

07/02/2014 Argaam

Saudi Vitrified Clay Pipe (SVCP) cancelled its memo of understanding signed earlier to buy a whole stake in the Ceramic Pipes Company after the Saudi Council of Competition rejected the deal, a filing on Tadawul said.

The Council said the deal will adversely affect competition in local market.

The cancellation entails no financial obligations on the parties, the company said.

Ceramic Pipes Company is 50 percent owned by listed Saudi Ceramic Company, and its capital is SAR 150 million.
