19/05/2013 Tadawul

Further to the Company’s announcement on 06/19/1434H corresponding to 04/29/2013G related to the technical difficulties during the start-up which caused the need to stop temporarily the MPCs ammonia plant operation located in the company's complex in Ras Al Khair; Ma'aden announces that it has resumed production of ammonia starting 07/07/1434H corresponding to 05/17/2013G after solving technical difficulties. Please note that Maaden used the shutdown period as an opportunity to carry out maintenance which was previously scheduled for five weeks during May. At the same time the diammonium phosphate (DAP) plant was restarted as a consequence of the return of production in the ammonia plant. Please note that the Company will no longer require 5 weeks maintenance of the ammonia plant scheduled previously in May.
The companys financial impact of the shut-down is initially estimated at SAR 119 million, which will be reflected in the second quarter financial results. It should also be noted that the shutdown of diammonium phosphate (DAP) did not affect the company's ability to meet its obligations to its customers during the period of suspension due to the availability of stock.
Ma'aden Phosphate Company (MPC) is a limited liability company co-owned by Ma'aden (70%) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) (30%).
