Maaden starts commercial production from aluminum smelter in Sept

Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden) will start the commercial production of its aluminum smelter on September 1, 2014, which will produce 740,000 tonnes annually, the company said.

The aluminum smelter is owned by Maaden Aluminum Company, a joint venture owned by Maaden and Alcoa (74.9 percent and 25.1 percent respectively).

The financial impact will be in the third quarter of 2014, the company added
