The chief executive officer of Saudi Basic Industries Corp (SABIC), the Saudi petrochemicals giant, has called for forming a public-private sector partnership to develop a national plan to diversify and support the manufacturing industries in Saudi Arabia.
SABIC’s CEO, Mohamed al-Mady, has suggested upgrading the industrial infrastructure and establishing free zones to attract investors. He has urged the government to invest in training its own employees.
Diversifying the manufacturing industries requires a comprehensive plan and coordinated efforts by the state ministries, the public and private sectors, he added in a statement.
‘’Despite the good efforts, I doubt that we would be able to achieve progress within the current framework,’’ he said. ‘’Now is the right time to formulate an initiative to reach our desired goals.’’
