Saudi Telecommunications Company (STC) said that the internet and mobile services in the Eastern Province were interrupted affecting 200,000 clients in the area.
The interruption was caused by a double cut in the company’s optical fibers by 2 contractors in Khobar, Riyadh’s direction, and in a wireless PBX in Al-Hofuf.

The double cut caused the detachment of about 1000 2G, 3G and 4G mobile stations and 837 electronic cabins as well as isolating the wireless PBX of Dammam, Khobar, the villages and cities nearby; according to a press release obtained by Argaam.

STC emphasized that it has already started converting the services to available backup alternatives until repairing the cuts as soon as possible.

The company added that the damages were caused by the contractors’ negligence which negatively impacted vital sectors affecting the citizen’s lives as well as affecting business and government sectors in various areas.

According to Argaam; STC is currently working on restoring telecommunication services for Khamis Mushait after a fire broke out in the divider last Sunday.
