Saudi Arabia’s benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) marked the biggest drop since 2008, as it lost more than 800 points (6.7%) to close at 11,077 points on April 6.

The index also recorded the lowest close since November 2023 and the largest daily loss in terms of ratio since March 2020 (COVID-19 outbreak).

The stocks tumble followed similar declines in the oil and global markets over the weekend after China announced retaliatory tariffs on the United States.

Year-to-date Saudi market losses reached approximately 960 points, or 8%, compared to the 2024 closing price.
