Unemployment rate among Saudis at historical low of 7% in line with Vision 2030

The unemployment rate among Saudis declined to 7% in Q4 2024, compared to 7.8% at the end of Q3 2024, according to the General Authority for Statistics’ (GASTAT) Labor Force Survey issued today, March 27.

 

The unemployment rate among Saudi males stood at approximately 4.3%, while that of females came in at 11.9%.

 

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate for non-Saudis reached 1.5% for the same quarter.

 

GASTAT said the survey estimated the overall unemployment rate for the working-age population declined to 3.5% in Q4 2024, compared to 3.7% in the quarter before.

 

The data also showed a decline in the labor force participation rate for Saudi males on a quarterly basis, reaching 66.2% in Q4 2024.

 

Additionally, GASTAT indicated that the labor force participation rate for Saudi females dropped to 36% in Q4 2024.

 

Regionally, Northern Borders recorded the highest overall unemployment rate at 7.5%, while Eastern Province and Riyadh had the lowest rates of 2.1% and 2.5%, respectively.
