Prices of 102 Saudi commodities, services rise in February

The average prices of 102 out of 169 goods and services in 10 categories in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in February, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

On the other hand, the prices of 63 commodities declined and four remained unchanged.

 

White cabbage saw the steepest rise in February, up 63.55% YoY, followed by American cardamom with a 31.14% YoY hike.

 

Meanwhile, locally grown round onions were the biggest decliner, dropping by 36.15% YoY, followed by imported round onions, which declined by 30.14% YoY.

 

Elsewhere, prices of 33 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while five others decreased YoY.

 

Annual prices of seven feed and livestock types rose in February, while six declined YoY.

 

In the clothing category, prices of six items increased YoY, while four others retreated YoY.

 

Prices of three miscellaneous personal services and commodities went up YoY, while one fell YoY in Febraury.

 

Prices of three out detergent products advanced last month, compared to the same month in the previous year. However, one item saw a YoY price slump.

 

Prices of the three health services witnessed a YoY jump in February.

 

Elsewhere, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance & repair of personal means of transportation went up YoY. The other service under the same category retreated YoY in February.

 

For hotels and furnished apartments, one service price increased YoY, while another decreased YoY last month.

 

Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY in February.
