The General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) announced that the Standing Committee for Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade decided to initiate a review investigation into the anti-dumping duties imposed on GCC imports of ceramic and porcelain tiles.

This applies to ceramic and porcelain tiles used for flooring, wall coverings, or fireplaces, whether mounted or not, originating from or exported by the People's Republic of China and the Republic of India.

In a statement issued today, March 3, the General Secretariat explained that these procedures are in accordance with the Common Law on Anti-Dumping, Countervailing Measures and Safeguard Measures and its rules of implementation.

As a result, the Standing Committee decided to accept the complaint and initiate the investigation process.

According to data available on Argaam, the Technical Secretariat Office for Combating Harmful Practices in International Trade at the GCC General Secretariat had previously decided in May 2020 to impose definitive anti-dumping duties on GCC imports of ceramic tiles originating from or exported by China and India.

These final anti-dumping duties have been in effect for five years, starting from June 6, 2020.
