Residential mortgages granted to individuals by banks in Saudi Arabia leapt 39% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 10.5 billion in January 2025, data issued by the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) showed.

 

According to the data, 13,400 contracts were concluded between banks and individuals in January.

 

The average value of the new residential mortgage increased to SAR 780,000, rising by 9% YoY.

 

 

Financing for residential villas accounted for the largest share of the total mortgages provided by banks during the month, with a value of SAR 6.63 billion, at 63%. Residential apartments came in second place with SAR 3.35 billion, followed by land plots with SAR 475 million.
