The average prices of 102 out of 169 goods and services in 10 categories in Saudi Arabia turned higher year-on-year (YoY) in January, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.
On the other hand, the prices of 62 commodities declined and three remained unchanged.
White cabbage saw the steepest rise in January, up 42.16% YoY, followed by American cardamom with a 35.50% YoY hike.
Meanwhile, Almarai local cheese cups were the biggest decliner, falling 13.92% YoY. Egyptian navel orange came second with a YoY drop of 11.51%.
Elsewhere, prices of 36 construction materials rose on an annual basis last month, while four others decreased YoY.
Prices of eight feed and livestock types rose in January, while five declined YoY.
In the clothing category, prices of six items increased YoY, while four others retreated YoY.
Prices of three miscellaneous personal services and commodities went up, while one fell YoY in January.
Prices of three out of four detergent products advanced last month, compared to the same month in the previous year. However, one item saw a YoY price slump.
Prices of one out of three health services witnessed a YoY jump in January, while the remaining two saw a YoY price pullback.
Elsewhere, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance & repair of personal means of transportation went up YoY in the same month. The other service under the same category retreated YoY in January.
For hotels and furnished apartments, one service price increased, while another decreased in December.
Under the tobacco category, the price of Marlboro declined YoY during January.
