US natural gas inventories fall more than expected

The US natural gas inventories decreased by 321 billion cubic feet (Bcf) during the week ended Jan. 24, surpassing expectations of a 317-Bcf decline.

 

Total natural gas reserves amounted to 2.57 trillion cubic feet, falling by 5.3% (about 144 Bcf), compared to the same period last year, data from the US Energy Information Administration showed today, Jan. 30.

 

The current inventories are 4.1% (almost 110 Bcf) lower, exceeding the five-year (2020-2024) average of 2.68 trillion cubic feet.
