Trump: Putin 'destroying' Russia by refusing ceasefire with Ukraine

US President Donald Trump said Russian President Vladimir Putin is destroying Russia by not reaching an agreement to end the war with Ukraine.

 

“He should make a deal. I think he’s destroying Russia by not making a deal,” Trump told reporters upon his return to the White House.

 

“I think Russia’s going to be in big trouble,” the president-elect added, noting that Russia's economy, including inflation, has taken a severe blow due to the ongoing conflict.

 

Trump also expressed his willingness to meet with Putin and boasted about the warm relations with the Russian leader.

 

Additionally, Trump mentioned that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told him he is seeking a peace deal to end the war that began in February 2022.
