The plant inauguration
Khalil bin Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industrial Affairs, inaugurated the new plant of Lebanon’s Baalbaki Chemical Industries (BCI) in Riyadh Second Industrial City.
The plant spans a total area of 10,000 square meters. The fully automated facility, the first of its kind in the Kingdom and the region, boasts an initial production capacity of 40,000 tons annually in its first phase, increasing to 60,000 tons in the second phase by next year, according to a ministerial statement.
It focuses on producing raw materials used in various industries such as automotive, piping, air conditioning systems, household appliances, and insulation materials. It is committed to using non-hazardous materials and advanced technologies that reduce energy consumption by up to 60%.
Such technologies promote sustainability and energy conservation, with key innovations including recycling PET materials into raw materials for insulation and repurposing tires to produce adhesives used in various industrial applications.
Bin Salamah highlighted the ministry's role in fostering industrial investments in Saudi Arabia. This is through a range of initiatives and programs aimed at creating an attractive environment for investors, while streamlining procedures and providing support.
He also affirmed the ministry's keenness to diversifying the industrial base, enhancing local content, and localizing transformative and chemical industries, hence contributing to the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 while also positioning the Kingdom as a leading industrial hub. He also noted the significance of BCI’s move to inaugurate its latest production facility in Riyadh Second Industrial City.
