US crude oil inventories rose by about 500,000 barrels last week, despite a 1.5 million barrel drop in inventories at the Cushing delivery center—the largest storage center in the US, data from the American Petroleum Institute (API) showed.
Gasoline inventories increased by 2.85 million barrels in the week ended Dec. 6, while distillate inventories—which include diesel and heating oil—rose by about 2.45 million barrels.
Meanwhile, Brent crude futures for February 2025 delivery settled at $72.19 per barrel on Dec. 10. WTI crude futures for January 2025 delivery rose 0.3%, or 22 cents, to $68.59 a barrel.
