Saudi Arabian Oil Co. (Saudi Aramco) is focused on reducing costs during the energy transition, President and CEO Amin Nasser said, adding that "unrealistic expectations" are the biggest obstacle to achieving the transformation goal.

Speaking at the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI), Nasser stressed the need for all energy sources to ensure sustainability and noted that Saudi Arabia's substantial investments rank among the lowest carbon emitters globally.

He highlighted hydrogen's high costs as a major challenge versus other energy sources, adding that technology and innovation are key.

Aramco has invested $700 million in venture capital to support startups driving the energy transition, Nasser said.
