Knowledge Economic City Co. (KEC) is developing hotel, residential, and commercial projects worth a total of SAR 10 billion, said CEO Mohammad Al-Mubarak.
He expects the projects to have a positive impact on the company's financial results and shareholders over the coming period.
This includes the Islamic World Avenue project, with an estimated cost of SAR 4 billion for the first phase alone. The project will feature 5,140 hotel rooms and 840 residential units, Al-Mubarak told Asharq News during Cityscape Global in Riyadh.

This is in addition to the Madinah Gate project, set to open by the end of this year; the Madinah Hub project, with a cost of SAR 2 billion for the first phase; and the Alalya'a project, priced at SAR 3 billion.
Al-Mubarak said the market in Madinah is hungry for quality and essential projects in all sectors, adding that KEC has an ambitious plan for larger projects over the next few years in the hotel, residential, commercial, and office sectors.
The CEO also pointed out that real estate projects require huge capital investments, which led to some loss in the company’s financial statements. However, KEC is going through the stage of reaping the fruits, he noted.
KEC reported a net loss of SAR 47.6 million for the first nine months of 2024, compared to a loss of SAR 23.9 million a year earlier. The company narrowed losses to SAR 8.9 million in Q3 2024 from SAR 13.3 million in Q3 2023 on higher sales, according to data available to Argaam.
