US natural gas inventories rose by 80 billion cubic feet (bcf) in the week ended Oct. 18, ahead of the anticipated 61-bcf rise.
Total natural gas stocks reached 3.78 trillion cubic feet (tcf), up 2.9%, or approximately 106 bcf, compared to the same period last year, according to data released today, Oct. 24, by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
Additionally, inventories are 4.6%, or around 167 bcf, above the five-year average (2019-2023) of 3.54 tcf.
