The strong collaboration between the private and government sectors in the Kingdom helped mitigate challenges in the logistics sector, said Rakan AlOtaishan, President of the National Logistics Committee at the Federation of Saudi Chambers.
In an interview with Argaam on the sidelines of the Global Logistics Forum, he highlighted the role of the Logistics Partnership Council in strengthening this cooperation through regular meetings to discuss the challenges in the logistics sector and develop effective solutions.
Moreover, the Kingdom's strategic geographical location, which overlooks the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea and connects the three continents, gives the logistics sector a tremendous competitive advantage, he said, indicating that Saudi Arabia's launch of 59 logistics zones aims to benefit from this advantage, develop the sector, as facilitate investments and increase its efficiency.
AlOtaishan expected that the logistics centers spread across various areas in the Kingdom will constitute large economies, indicating that they have different competitive advantages, thus creating many jobs.
The Kingdom has achieved great accomplishments in recent years, as several programs and goals were launched in the logistics sector. Moreover, the sector has witnessed growth in the number of goods since the launch of Vision 2030.
Ports and airports have seen record numbers in their monthly performance, helping improve the Kingdom's ranking on the Global Logistics Performance Index, AlOtaishan said.
He stressed that the Kingdom seeks to be among the top 10 countries on the Global Logistics Performance Index by 2030.
