Saudi holdings of US Treasuries rise to $140.3B in June

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries reached $140.3 billion in June 2024, up $ 4 billion month-on-month, new data released by the US Treasury showed.

 

Saudi Arabia's holdings of US Treasuries in June are the highest in more than four years, i.e. since March 2020, when they reached $ 159.11 billion.

 

Accordingly, the Kingdom maintained its 17th place among the largest holders of US treasury securities for the month.

 

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $109.2 billion, representing 78% of the total, and short-term bonds worth $31 billion, accounting for 22%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds in June with a value of $1.117 trillion, followed by China with a value of $780.2 billion, as the following table shows:
