Saudi holdings of US bonds rise to $136.3B in May

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries saw a slight month-on-month (MoM) rise of $900 million to reach $136.3 billion in May, new data released by the US Treasury showed.

 

Accordingly, the Kingdom maintained its 17th place among the largest holders of US Treasuries for the month.

 

Saudi Arabia’s holdings of US Treasuries were distributed among long-term bonds worth $107.28 billion, representing 79% of the total. Meanwhile, short-term bonds amounted to $29.05 billion, accounting for 21%.

Japan was the top holder of US Treasury bonds by value in May with $1.12 trillion, followed by China ($768.3 billion), as the following table shows:
