Saudi Arabia’s Law for Protection of Whistle-Blowers, Witnesses, Experts and Victims came into force on June 29.

An application for protection is accepted after a substantiated request from the whistle-blowers, witnesses, experts or victims. Protection may also be granted upon recommendation from the supervisory authority, from the seizure, reasoning, investigation or court, based on the information available on the justifications for providing protection.

Punishments for violations include imprisonment not exceeding two years and a maximum fine of SAR 300,000, or either of the two penalties.
