Signing ceremony
The National Water Co. (NWC) signed today, June 10, a long-term contract with the Spanish company Aguas de Valencia to rehabilitate, operate and maintain two wastewater treatment plants in Taif for 15 years.
The deal is valued at more than SAR 555 million ($148 million), with a tariff of SAR 0.67 per cubic meter ($0.18 per cubic meter), the company said in a statement picked up by Argaam.
The scope of work will see the Spanish firm rehabilitate, operate and maintain the two Taif-based plants, with a total treatment capacity of 147,000 cubic meters per day.
NWC also indicated completion of the signing of eight contracts under its long-term operation and maintenance (LTOM) contracts program, part of its strategic plans for existing Kingdom-wide treatment plants.
The LTOM program is ongoing, said the company. It intends to award other contracts for 113 existing treatment plants, accommodating 2.4 million cubic meters per day, starting this year. This represents investment opportunities for both local and foreign industry players, being offered long-term, 15-year projects with capital investments at competitive prices.
